Tesla

Tesla is certainly Musk's most well-known business. Even though Musk is not the CEO anymore, he has played a key role in how the company is run since 2008. In an era where the world needs to cut down on emissions, the car company makes electric vehicles on a large scale. Tesla is recognized for its innovation and praised for its approach.

It has a market value of over $1 trillion and is the world's most valuable automotive company. Even though the company has done well, it has been accused of having unsafe worker conditions and the self-driving mode having the potential to be faulty. Tesla also has a company that makes long-lasting batteries, called Tesla Energy.

SpaceX

SpaceX is an aerospace manufacturer that was started by Musk in 2002. Since the 1980s, NASA has been less involved in space exploration, and companies like SpaceX hope to be the ones who can take humanity further into the stars. For Musk, his goal is to make space travel commercially viable and enable human colonization of Mars.

SpaceX has done a lot for a private company. They were the first company to reuse a crewed space capsule, and they were the first private company to send people into orbit.

Neuralink

In 2016, Musk co-founded the neurological research company. One goal of the company is attempting to link artificial intelligence with the human mind to treat serious brain disease and clinical trials are expected to commence in the coming years.

Musk proposes that Neuralinks’ technology “will enable someone with paralysis to use a smartphone with their mind faster than someone using thumbs”.

The Boring Company

The Boring Company was founded in 2016 by Musk and focuses on infrastructure planning. Musk has revealed plans of a ‘Hyperloop’ transport system, which essentially is an underground tunnels-based system for cars. In the public eye, the system has been criticized for being expensive and less practical compared to public transportation, like trains.

Twitter

The social media site was purchased by Musk in October 2022. He is certain to take the site in a new direction, even though it is not yet known what he will do with it. In a statement, Elon Musk said that free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy and Twitter is the digital town square where matters that are important for the future of humanity are discussed.

The acquisition of Twitter by Elon Musk started on April 14, 2022, and ended on October 27, 2022. In January 2022, Musk began buying shares of American social media company Twitter, Inc. In time, he became the company’s largest shareholder in April with a 9.1 percent ownership stake. Twitter asked Musk to join its board of directors, and at first, he said yes, but then he changed his mind.

On April 14, he made an unsolicited $43 billion offer to purchase the company, which Twitter responded to with a “poison pill” strategy to resist a hostile takeover. The board of directors of the company unanimously accepted Musk's offer to take the company private on April 25 for $44 billion. New features would be introduced, the platform would be open-sourced, and it would promote free speech, according to Musk.

Musk said in July that he wanted to end the agreement because Twitter had broken the agreement by not doing enough to stop spambot accounts. Shortly thereafter, the company filed a lawsuit against Musk in the Delaware Court of Chancery, with a trial scheduled for the week of October 17. Weeks before the trial was set to begin, Musk changed his mind and announced that he would move forward with the acquisition.

On October 27, the deal was closed, and Musk became Twitter's new owner and CEO. He furthermore fired several top executives, including the previous CEO Parag Agrawal. After Musk tweeted the news, the company made numerous changes, including setting up a “content moderation council” to handle free speech and cutting half of the staff.

The buyout has been met with mixed reactions. Some people are happy with Musk's plans for the company and his vision, but others are worried that the platform might become a place for hate speech, harassment, and misinformation. Conservatives and libertarians have largely supported the purchase, while liberals, left-wingers, and former and present employees of the company have voiced concerns about Musk's intentions.
