The Hunger Games film series can be seen with subscriptions to Epix and Amazon Prime. Also, it can be bought or rented on iTunes, Google Play, and Vudu.

Based on the trilogy of books of the same name written by American author Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games film series is a collection of dystopian science fiction adventure movies. The movies were created by Nina Jacobson and Jon Kilik and are distributed by Lionsgate. With Jennifer Lawrence playing Katniss Everdeen, Josh Hutcherson playing Peeta Mellark, Liam Hemsworth playing Gale Hawthorne, and Donald Sutherland playing President Snow, the series features an ensemble cast.

The first three movies broke numerous box office milestones. The opening day and opening weekend for an original IP were both broken by The Hunger Games (2012). The record for the largest November opening weekend was set by the 2013 film Catching Fire. The opening day and weekend of Mockingjay: Part 1 (2014) were the biggest of 2014. Both the themes of the movies and Lawrence's performance in Mockingjay - Part 2 (2015) were praised.

Epix and Amazon Prime offer online streaming of The Hunger Games. However, it is also available for purchase or rental through Vudu, Google Play, and iTunes. There is also, of course, DVD and Blu-ray.

What is the plot of the Hunger Games Trilogy?

The post-apocalyptic setting of "The Hunger Games" is our world. The twelve districts of Panem, which once comprised North America, are governed cruelly by the Capitol. The Hunger Games were established by the Capitol as retribution for a previous revolution. Each district selects a boy and a girl (between the ages of twelve and eighteen) who will battle it out on live television until only one child is left.

Katniss Everdeen, the protagonist of our story, volunteers for District Twelve in place of her younger sister Primrose. Peeta Mellark, the son of a baker and Katniss's romantic interest, is the district's male "tribute." Katniss takes advantage of his love during the Games so that the affluent spectators will send her food and medicine.

The oppression, poverty, and violence that they experience make every resident of Districts 4 through 12 hate the Capitol. When Rue from District Eleven is killed while Katniss is competing in the Games, she expresses compassion by placing flowers on her body, which enrages the Capitol. Additionally, only Peeta and Katniss are left after the Games, so neither will kill the other. Instead, they decide to share some poisoned berries so that the Capitol will not have a victor. As a result, the Capitol allowed the couple to triumph together rather than humiliate them in front of the districts. After witnessing one act of rebellion, the other districts watching the games demand more. Consequently, a second revolution is just getting started.

The evolution of this revolution is the subject of "Catching Fire." A special edition of the Hunger Games is held for all previous winners because the Capitol is furious with Katniss for sparking a second rebellion, which forces her and Peeta to participate once more. These games result in the creation of a winning team that destroys the arena and makes its way to District Thirteen, which most people believed did not exist. Peeta is, however, taken prisoner by the Capitol, which also wipes out District Twelve.

The movie "Mockingjay" depicts Katniss as the leader of the Capitol and President Snow's revolution. She serves as a representation of the rebellion in the media for the rebels. Peeta is saved, but because of his torture, he despises and is afraid of Katniss. Later, a group of rebels led by Peeta and Katniss attempt to kill President Snow in the Capitol, but a bomb kills Katniss' sister Primrose. Later, Katniss learns that the rebel president was responsible for making this bomb, so she assassinates her own president in place of Snow. She then goes back to District Twelve, where she lives, to try to get better with Peeta. We see them married with two kids at the book's conclusion.

What is The Hunger Games based on?

The Greek myth of "Theseus and the Minotaur" served as an inspiration for The Hunger Games. In this tale, King Minos of Crete demands that 14 young people, seven girls and seven boys, be sacrificed and brought to the Minotaur as retribution for Athens' loss of a son. The beast is slain by Theseus, who offers himself as a sacrifice.

In the original novel, The Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen of the 12th District offers her services in exchange for a tribute in order to prevent her sister from being killed. She ultimately engages in conflict with the Capitol to defend the Panem people throughout the course of the series.

The Hunger Games prequel: What is ‘The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ about?

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, a prequel, will be turned into a movie by Lionsgate. The new Hunger Games film prequel is anticipated to be directed by Francis Lawrence, who also served as producer on three of the four original films. Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpsons are also expected to return. The movie is scheduled to begin filming in 2022 and is anticipated to be released in theatres in 2023 or 2024, though there have been no casting announcements as of yet.

President Snow's story is the main focus. 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow is getting ready to serve as a mentor in the Games on the morning of the reaping, which will begin the tenth annual Hunger Games. Coriolanus' success will determine what happens to the Snow family, but his chances are slim. As a tribute, District 12, the least developed district in all of Panem, has been given to him as a female tribute, but as he works with the tribute, he starts to care about her more and more, and finally, winning the game becomes even more important than a matter of status.
