2015 Callaghan Cup: Opening two days see one-sided wins for most teams

The 2015 Callaghan Cup-All India Senior National Division 2 tournament got underway at the Barabati Stadium, Cuttack, Odisha from Wednesday, 9th December 2015 and the tournament promises to showcase a high- octane Rugby action.

The CRPF team defeated the KISS team 29-17 in the opening match to set the tone for the day. There were a couple of one-sided affairs after that as the Magicians beat the home team, Kalinga RFC 64-0 to get their campaign off to a rousing start.

The Delhi Lions then came up with an impressive performance to beat Jammu&Kashmir 44-0 before the Sgt.Institute stamped their dominance over the Rajasthan team that stood no chance against their more physical and experienced opponents. The game produced the most one-sided contest of the day with a result of 71-0.

One sided scenes unfold on Day 2

On the second day proceeding begins with the CRPF team continuing their winning run beating the Bihar side by 51-0.

The Magicians also won their second straight match, beating Tamil Nadu 31-0. With both sides producing successive wins, both teams advanced to the semi-final stage of the competition.

The Jammu& Kashmir side made a strong comeback into the competition after their loss on the first day, beating the side from Chattisgarh 31-0.

The second franchise from the capital, the Delhi Rebels beat the team from Rajasthan 72-0 which brought an end to the days proceedings.

Day 3 promises to be a cracker with a line-up of competitive games. The Sergeants from Kolkata take on the Rebels which should be the game of the day as both sides are hot favorites at the moment.
