Biarritz hooker Benoit August is planning to retire at the end of the season, the French Top 14 club announced on Saturday.
“I’m lucky that I’m able to choose the moment to stop. There are a minimum four matches left, hopefully five (Biarritz are in the Challenge Cup semi-finals),” he told the Basque club’s website.
The 36-year-old has lined up in 237 French Top 14 games in his career, won the Challenge Cup title last year with Biarritz and has taken part in two European Cup finals.
“I want to make the most of everything that’s coming up, with the bonus of facing Leinster (in the Challenge Cup last four),” the player added.
