James Horwill (C) is pictured during a match between Australia and Barbarians at Twickenham Stadium on November 26, 2011. Horwill has re-signed with the Queensland Reds for a further two seasons, taking him beyond the 2015 World Cup, the club said on Monday.

Wallabies captain James Horwill has re-signed with the Queensland Reds for a further two seasons, taking him beyond the 2015 World Cup, the club said on Monday.

Horwill’s contract extension is a boost for the 2011 Super Rugby champions, who will lose Wallaby winger Digby Ioane to French rugby next season.

Horwill, 27, who is 13 games away from playing 100 times for the Reds, is expected to lead the Wallabies in their three-Test home series against the British and Irish Lions in June-July.

“I’ve made no secrets about what playing for the Reds and Wallabies means to me, so I couldn’t be happier to have the contract finalised and my future settled,” Horwill said.

“We’ve created a pretty special environment here at the Reds over the past few years but we still feel there is plenty we can achieve as a group, beginning with winning another Super Rugby title this year.”
