The New South Wales Waratahs said Monday they had signed Queensland Reds utility back Jono Lance and French-based backrower Tala Gray for the 2014 Super Rugby season.
Waratahs head coach Michael Cheika said Lance, 22, with his skills set and hard edge would make a valuable addition to his squad.
“Jono brings a dual running and ball distribution game and he is an excellent defender,” Cheika said.
“He has all the qualities to fit the profile of what we are looking for.”
Gray, 23, was recruited from French Top 14 side Biarritz, having played in Sydney club rugby before switching to France.
“He’s the type of player we’re looking for,” Cheika said. “Rugged in attack and defence, Tala is a strong ball carrier and a big worker.
“He also has a bit of edge which I really like in players and he is hungry to prove himself back in Australia.”
