A 116-year-old athlete by the name of Dharmapal Gujjar made history as he became the oldest man to cross 200 metres at the 35th National Masters Athletic Championship. He achieved the feat in 46.74 seconds.

Gujjar, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, was the oldest athlete in his category. He is 6 feet tall, and later revealed that a balanced diet and his own prepared chatni made out of herbs are the secrets to his longevity and healthy physique.

Gujjar is reportedly the oldest person alive in the world according to the dates on his PAN Card and Voter card; he was born on October 6, 1897.

Gujjar also said that if he had more funds then he could have represented India in international events. He went on to add that his co-workers provided financial help for him to participate in the event, and sometimes even provided food.

The 116-year-old is a farmer by trade and achieved all this without any help from the government. All we can say is – kudos!
