Bangalore, 18th October, 2014: The emperor of long-distance, with a total of 27 World Records, 4 World Championships, 2 gold medals and still running, Haile Gebrselassie is all in for the Bengaluru Marathon.

The legend met with the city’s runners at the Bengaluru Marathon Expo, held today at Kanteerava Stadium, to inspire and give them insights through his personal experiences and knowledge. Haile had an interactive session with aspirants, giving them insights to the forthcoming marathon.

One of the greatest long distance runners in the world, Haile is currently in the Garden City to flag off the most anticipated run – the Bengaluru Marathon – to be held tomorrow.

A little about Haile Gebrselassie:

Haile Gebrselassie, considered by many as the finest distance runners of all times, holds two Olympic Gold medals and four in World championship. The 41-year old Ethiopian marvel whose international running career spans over two decades and has seen him set 27 world records including various silver and bronze medals from various distance events.

In 2013 Gebrselalassie finished a 10 mile run in 46:59 and set a new world record in the over 40 category. In 2007 the master runner set an unbeatable record by running 21.285 Kilometer in an hour in. The same year he set another absolute world record in the 20,000-meter event.

Gebrselassie has a string of track and marathon victories under his belt including the Berlin marathon, which he won four consecutive years from 2006 through to 2009. He finished the 2006 Berlin marathon under 2 hours and 4 minutes, making him the first person to achieve this feat. Haile is still going strong taking part in marathons all over the world.
