Bidding for world record, marathon runner Kevin Carr arrives in Pune

Kevin Carr, who has set off bidding to create a world record by circumnavigating the globe on foot in record time, has made a pitstop in Pune on Wednesday.

The marathon runner, who commenced his journey on the 28th of July last year in Devon, England, will run over 1,800 miles from east to west covering six continents and 28 countries which include France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, India, Australia to name a few.

The Britisher is working for a noble cause, hoping to amass 10,000 pounds for the Red Cross and SANE.

Carr takes to social networking website Twitter, to inform his intrigued followers of his whereabouts.

On January 24, having arrived in Mumabi, Carr tweeted “Stood in the sea Juhu beach west coast India 750Miles/25Days time will reach Chennai on the East coast!”

His run in India was far from smooth, with hot weather and mosquitoes irritating him along the way.

He tweeted, “17 miles yesterday one mosquito bite per mile so far malaria and histamine tablets for breakfast!!

“Well over 30Degrees with weather warning and heat stress.”

His latest tweet from Pune read, “First day broke Marathon distance in India yesterday which is tough while pushing almost half bodyweight in 32Deg’s the locals r v friendly #Hardwayround.”
