Panaji, July 31 (IANS) A 23-year-old Dutch woman collapsed while running a marathon and subsequently died while she was being taken to a government hospital on the outskirts of Panaji, a police official said on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Christina Kanpteijns, said Assistant Sub Inspector Jairam Naik of the Agacaim police station.
He said that the woman was declared dead by doctors at the Goa Medical College hospital near Panaji.
Kanpteijns was in India on a tourist visa and was staying at the beach village of Anjuna, located 20 km north of Panaji.
Police have contacted Dutch consular officials, whose presence has been requested during the postmortem proceedings.
