Participants at last year’s triathlon

The Hyderabad Triathlon will flag off on the 11th of October – this Sunday – at 5:30 a.m. from the GMC Balayogi Stadium in Hyderabad. Since its institution in 2012, the triathlon has seen its participation increase tenfold. With a mere 150 participants in the first edition, it saw 1100 people take part last year.

The participants include general public, national & international triathletes, government bodies, private club members, sports club members among others.

It’s India’s biggest triathlon, and has both triathlon and duathlon events. A range of events (nine, in all), all organised on the same day, will see the largest particpation of any triathlon. It aims at encouraging participation from not just professionals but also beginners, and sees participants, not just from Hyderabad but from across the country, besides a few international participants.

The event is open to anyone above the age of 5, although those below 18 will need consent from a parent or guardian to participate.
