The Sunday crowd on 17 February 2019 at Hi-Lite Mall and EHAM Digital Store were in for a surprise when a group of students from IIM Kozhikode broke into a ‘flash mob’ and enthralled the onlookers with their moves.
The flash mob was organized by the students of IIM Kozhikode in the run-up to the 10th edition of the Peekay Steel Calicut Half Marathon. The spirited dancers took Calicut’s mall by storm with their energetic moves, while the crowd cheered and applauded. The hard work put in by the team was rewarded with the crowd’s appreciation.
The event was a prelude to this year’s Peekay Steel Calicut Half Marathon to be held on 24 February 2019. The theme for the Marathon is ‘United Kerala Upholding the Legacy’. The Marathon wishes to highlight the spirit with which the people of Kerala stood together during difficult times such as Kerala Floods and Nipah virus outbreak and continue supporting each other in a similar way.
The ‘flash mob’ ended with the students of IIM-K urging people of Kerala to run for a United Kerala. With ₹4.5 lakh in prize money, the marathon will start from the beach (in front of All India Radio office) on 24 February 2019 at 5:30 AM and run till Shri Gujarathi Vidyalaya Higher Secondary School.
The marathon features three categories, a 21 km half marathon, a 10 km mini-marathon which are competitive races and a 3 km “Dream Run”, a non‐competitive run featuring people from all walks of life.
