Key to success is being disciplined and focused, says ADHM 2015 event ambassador Keninesa Bekele
Kenenisa Bekele has always shocked his fans with his incredible speed in running whenever he is on the track or on the road. The World and Olympic record holder (5,000 metres and 10,000 metres) from Ethiopia is in the capital to motivate elite athletes and to encourage amateur runners during the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon 2015 on Sunday, 29 November 2015 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
On being recognized as event ambassador of the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon 2015, he said, “India is a great country with a big population. It is always special to be here and I am grateful to be chosen as the event ambassador of this global event – ADHM 2015”
The most accomplished runner in IAAF World Cross Country Championships history revealed that he wants more runners to emerge in the sport of running and is doing his bit to promote the sport back in his country. “My younger brother bagged a bronze medal in the London Olympics three years back and I want one of my kids to follow my footsteps as they grow up. I look forward to seeing more runners from India and all other countries.”
Speaking on his first Half Marathon win where he defeated both Mo Farah and Haile Gebrselassie, Bekele said,“Both the great athletes have been my motivation to run since the beginning. The moment of winning is the most special moment in my running career so far”
Talking on the sidelines of Airtel Delhi Half Marathon 2015, Bekele also suggested all runners to be careful and stay away from injury, urging all young runners to be disciplined, train regularly and listen to their physiotherapists more often to avoid any injuries.Published 27 Nov 2015, 13:46 IST
