The City of Joy will be running with joy on 6 March 2016 when the IDBI Federal Life Insurance Kolkata Marathon 2016 hits the streets of Kolkata. The marathon will traverse around some of the most popular locations in the famed city and features five categories for interested participants to showcase their passion for running.
Last year’s event saw more than 15,000 passionate runners take part in the various categories and this year should see an increase in the number of participants. The full marathon in the event is extremely important for Olympic hopefuls as it is the official qualifier for Indian candidates looking for a ticket to Rio.
The IDBI Federal Life Insurance Kolkata Marathon 2016 aims to promote running and health in the state and provide distance runners an opportunity to exhibit their talent. Leander Paes, the ace tennis star is the brand ambassador for the large-scale event. He shares the same passion and commitment for the city and states:
