Nike launched Air Max 2015 anniversary edition on May 15, 2015 worldwide. What anniversary? This year marks 25 years of Air Max 90. The Air Max 90 was released in 1990 while 1987 marked the debut year for Air Max 1, the first Air Max. It comes in a striking red colorway. The anniversary edition is nothing special compared to the regular Air Max 2015 but do not ignore the fact that the Air Max 2015 itself is a great running shoe.

First, the important aspect of comfort. Air Max 2015 is one of the most comfortable neutral running shoes available in the running industry. Like all other Nike shoes, it features a stunning design. All those people who want to make a fashion statement with your running shoes, this shoe is definitely for you (if you can afford it). The shoe stays true to its size and has a 10mm heel-to-toe drop. Something that is unusual in neutral running shoes. The molded sock-liner and the internal bootie in the Air Max 2015 should offer unparalleled levels of cushioning along with a secure fit.

The upper of the Nike Air Max 2015 features an engineered mesh. This stunning feature offers great levels breathability. This means that you will face no irritation and wet feet (who does not like dry feet). The shoe is incredibly soft on the inside, thanks to the Nike RideLiner foam. You will also experience unprecedented levels of lockdown and support as Nike introduced the Flywire technology with the Air Max 2015. We all know that the Flywire strings offer best strength to weight ratio, so ultimately the shoe should be light. However, this is not the case. This shoe weighs 377g (lighter than 400+ grams of Air Max 2014 though) and when compared with other neutral running shoes in the running industry, this is heavy.

The midsole of Air Max 2015 is not that different from the midsole of Air Max 2014. That is a good thing, maybe the best of things (I know, it is a line fromThe Shawshank Redemption). Truly, the midsole of Nike Air Max 2015 is brilliant. It offers great levels of cushioning, thanks to the Air technology. The tubular construction offers better cushioning for heel strikes. This is great news for all the heel strikers out there.

Coming to the outsole of the shoe. It is amazing. It offers great levels of traction on various surfaces and is highly durable (durability should justify the high price tag. Right?). Waffle outsole does a great job in providing multi-surface tension. It also features Flex Grooves, these allow efficient heel to toe transition. After intense research, Nike decided to provide us with gender specific Flex Grooves as men and women both run differently.

Overall, the design of Nike Air Max 2015 stands out from the pack with its flashy colors and is nothing short of a spectacular running shoe design. When it comes to performance, it is best suited for normal training. High-speed runs and workouts are a big no as these activities are quite tiresome with these heavy shoes.

The anniversary edition of Nike Air Max is available on Nike stores online while the regular version is available on all major online retailers and Nike stores in India. It retails at around 15,000 – 16,000 INR and is one of the most expensive neutral running shoes in the market.

Bottom-line: A premium running shoe with a premium price tag.
