New Delhi, 26th August 2015: As a forerunner to India’s leading and Delhi’s most awaited ‘athletic event with a social conscience’, Chief Minister of Delhi and Chief Patron of the event, Shri Arvind Kejriwal along with representatives from the Title Sponsor Airtel and Procam International launched the registrations for the eighth edition of Airtel Delhi Half Marathon. On Sunday, November 29, 2015, the city will witness the overall 11th edition of an event that has helped Indians break running ground since its inception.

Launching the registration process, Chief Patron on the event Shri Kejriwal said, “The Delhi Government is extremely pleased to be associated with the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon. The fact that the event is in its 11th edition and receives participation from so many runners is a testimony to the popularity of the event. One of the aims of our Government is to encourage sports, health and fitness and an event like this brings ahead the sporting energy of the people of Delhi. We assure full support to the event to make it a success. I’m the first person to register for ADHM and I would urge people to come in great numbers.”

Registrations open on 25th August and close on 30th October 2015, or whenever running places are full, whichever is earlier. Entry fee for the Half Marathon and Great Delhi Run will be Rs. 1400, Rs. 600 respectively. Entry fee for Senior Citizen’s run and Champions with Disability Rs 250

In addition to the feature race, the USD 270,000 prize money event will also include the ‘DHL Corporate Champions’ (21.097 km), Great Delhi Run (6 km), the Senior Citizen's Run (4 km), and the Champions with Disability (4 km).

This year’s marathon is expected to witness participation from over 32,000 runners including some of world’s best professional athletes, health & fitness enthusiasts, and amateur runners from across India and different corners of the world. One of the fastest half marathon courses in the world, the route offers runners a beautiful glimpse of the historic city, that includes Parliament House, Rajpath, India Gate, Delhi Golf Club, Lodhi Road and Sansad Marg and inspires them to brave through their obstacles and challenges.

The face of the marathon, Bipasha Basu, said, “Being the face of Airtel Delhi Half Marathon for the last six years has been a very enriching experience for me. It is very heartening to see innumerable people participate year after year, their ardour and zeal is an inspiration to everyone. Over the years, we have had a chance to support a multitude of causes, and it is because of the positive response from the citizens of Delhi that we can continue to help. I urge you to once again dust off your running shoes and put your best foot forward for the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon. See you at the start line!

The DHL Corporate Champions category, aimed at groups of employees, will offer an additional prize money of Rs 10,000 each for the fastest male and female in the category.

The timing certificate preference criterion in the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon has been growing leaps and bounds over the years and has helped elevate the level of the half marathon field.

Going further, ADHM recognizes the efforts of the serious runners by offering priority starts to participants based on their timing certificate. The timing certificate will also ensure that the applicant gets preference over non-timed participants in the registration process. To increase female participation, there are limited numbers of running places reserved for them. On race day, runners will be divided into five sections:

Section 1

Under 1 hour 45 minutes

Section 2

Between 1.45 hours and Below 2.06 hours

Section 3

2.06 to Below 2.33 hours

Section 4

Between 2.33 hours and Below 2.57 hours

Section 5

Between 2.57 hours and Below 3.21 hours

Above 3.21 hours and those with no timing certificates
