Running for a Change successfully organizes 3rd edition of Chennai Pink Run

“Running for a Change” a Chennai based non-profit successfully organized the 3rd edition of Chennai Pink Run, a women’s running event, organized on behalf of the breast cancer awareness month (Internationally called as Pink October). The event was held on October 2, 2014 at Elliots Beach, Chennai. Around 275 participants ran in this event.

Speaking on the event, M.Rajalingam, founder of “Running for a Change” said, “The main idea is about creating awareness about breast cancer. There is also the fitness element as well. It's also about promoting the idea of women focusing on their health, whether that's through running or walking. This edition of Chennai pink run witnessed close to 275 participants, running for the cause”

The event was a first of its kind women’s running event in Chennai. The event is an intellectual property of the “Running for a Change” initiative [Running for a Change owns the trademark for the name “Chennai Pink Run”] and the aim of the initiative is to promote running as a catalyst for a healthy lifestyle among the public.

Chennai Pink Run is an innovative initiative which combines running, fitness, health, and lastly a social cause to educate the country.

M.Rajalingam, also said, “The main idea is about creating awareness about breast cancer. There is also the fitness element as well. The endurance runs like Chennai Pink Run will also help to highlight the endurance and will power of women in all walks of life.”

The reason for running in this event can be various. Be it for fun, or just for running, or for a cause, the event is just for women. The event is completely for the women, for them to enjoy the run, socialize and also to highlight the enduring capacities of women.

All these elements will together highlight the importance of women in every aspect of life.

M.Rajalingam also said, “The main attribute of a running event is that, it combines both the sports and the lifestyle elements, thereby encouraging more people, women in specific to lace up their shoes and start running and to prove the world that nothing is impossible. And I am also happy to be organizing an event for a cause, i.e, breast cancer awareness that is of paramount importance and that is often not much-talked about topic”
