Bangalore, September 14, 2015: Wipro Ltd., a leading global information technology company, will organize the tenth edition of the ‘Spirit of Wipro Run’, its biggest global employee engagement event, where employees and customers come together along with their families and friends to celebrate the joy of running and promote the values of a healthy lifestyle.

In its 10th year, the Spirit of Wipro Run is being held in over 109 cities across the world and more than 68,000 people have already registered for it. In India, the run will be held in 16 cities, including Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai and Kolkata. The Spirit of Wipro Run, which began as a race limited to one city with 2000 participants, has grown exponentially both in terms of size and scale.

The theme for this year’s marathon is “Run with a Purpose”, and it emphasizes the need to educate children with disability. In 2014, under the broad charter of education, Wipro Cares, (a not-for-profit trust that engages with our proximate communities on the issues of education for the underprivileged, primary health-care and environment) started a new initiative for ‘Children with Disability’.

In the first year of engagement in the area of children with disability, the programs supported the educational and rehabilitative needs of 1350 underprivileged children with disabilities through five projects in the cities of Bangalore, Pune, Jaipur and Hyderabad. The projects in this space focus on whatever makes education accessible and enriching for children with disability, especially those from an underprivileged background.

This year adidas partners with the Spirit of Wipro Run to support the overall aim of bringing trained runners to the starting line. Through the multi-sport training platform ‘miCoach’ and the slew of cross-training activations across campuses, an integrated approach to training participants has been executed.
