Video: Groupama 34 extend lead in the Tour de France a la Voile

Groupama 34 won all three of Tuesday’s in-port races in St. Gilles Croix de Vie, France to increase their overall lead in the Tour de France a la Voile.

A day after completing the sixth leg from Lorient to St. Gilles Croix de Vie, the fleet in the Tour de France a la Voile were back on the water for three in-port races on Tuesday.

Groupama 34 started the day with a 33-point lead over nearest rivals Bretagne Credit Mutuel Elite in the overall standings, but significantly increased that advantage by the end of the day.

Skipper Franck Cammas led his crew to victory in the first race, finishing ahead of Team Omansail in second place and Courrier Dunkerque 3 in third.

Groupama continued their dominance in race number two, with Ville de Geneve taking second place and Courrier Dunkerque 3 once again completing the podium places.

Cammas then completed a hat-trick of race wins, with Ville de Geneve finishing as runners-up for a second time in succession.

Third place in race three went to Toulon Provence Mediterranee.

It was a day to forget for Nicolas Troussel and his Bretagne Credit Mutuel Elite crew though.

They finished sixth, 11th and eighth respectively in the day’s races and trail Groupama by 55 points at the top of the standings.

The teams will now haul their yachts over land to Roses in Spain, which will be the departure point for the eighth leg to Gruissan in France.
