Video: Sodebo win latest leg of Tour de France a la Voile

Sodebo won the offshore leg from Deauville to Brest in the Tour de France a la Voile.

They beat Bretagne Credit Mutuel Elite into second place, but sit fourth in the overall standings

The 245-mile fourth offshore leg of the 2013 Tour de France a la Voile, from Deauville to Brest, reached its conclusion.

The fleet departed Deauville on Tuesday morning and headed to Barfleur before a tense downwind sail north of the Cotentin peninsula.

In the dark of night they sailed southwest, threading the Channel Islands under spinnakers and watchful eyes.

Both the Sodebo and Bretagne Credit Mutuel Elite teams opted for a tactical change as the night drew in, sailing to an offshore route in search of more wind.

The move paid dividends and the yachts went on to contest victory of the leg.

That honour went to the Thomas Coville-skippered Sodebo, who crossed the finishing line in Brest just after 3pm local time after 28 hours at sea.

Bretagne Credit Mutuel Elite duly took second place, with Courrier Dunkerque 3 finishing in third.

As a result, Bretagne Credit Mutuel Elite closed to within 27 points of overall leaders Groupama 34, who finished the leg in fourth place.

Courrier Dunkerque 3 sit third in the standings, with Sodebo in fourth overall.
