The two-time Olympian and Indian Shooting sensation, Mairaj Ahmad Khan, will be leading the Indian Squad for the ISSF World Cup Shotgun Almaty 2023. The tournament will begin on Saturday (May 20), in Kazakhstan.

The Indian contingent consists of 12 shooters, who will be led by the experienced Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Shreyasi Singh, the former Commonwealth Games Double trap Champion. The event will take place in Almaty till May 28th.

Mairaj Ahmad Khan has been instrumental for India in shotgun events all over the globe. He is the first Indian skeet shooter to win a Gold medal at ISSF World Cup and also the first one to qualify for the Olympics. He finished 9th in the Rio Olympics and 25th in the Tokyo Olympics.

Khan has also won multiple medals at Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and South Asian Games. This proves his ability to perform on big stages and makes him the best athlete to lead the charge for India in the penultimate stage of the ISSF WorldCup 2023 for shotgun shooters.

The final stage of the tournament will take place in the city of Lonato, Italy just before the World Championships in Doha.

Shreyasi Singh will be India's best hope in the Women Trap category and Khan will try to excel in India’s Skeet Challenge. Bhowneesh Mendiratta, the first Indian athlete to gain a ticket to Paris 2024, will be competing in Men’s trap category.

The Indian shooters will be hoping to make an impact in the tournament. This tournament will be a part of the preparation for the World Championships too.
