Shooting has been an integral part of the Olympic Games since the advent of the latter. Initially, there used to be deers and pigeons which were used as targets. But the sport has changed drastically for the better. The shooting events at the Rio Olympic Games will see a total of 390 athletes participating who hail from 97 different countries.
Since Beijing 2008, a total of 15 events in shooting have featured at each Games. The same will be the number in Brazil with the same set of rules and regulations as have been provided by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF). As for India, there will be a tally of 12 shooters who will be participating in a total of 18 events – which means that India can win a maximum of 18 medals from shooting but it is highly unlikely.
