Skateboarding action hits Bangalore

CELEBRATE THE FREE SPIRIT OF SKATEBOARDING WITH HOLYSTOKED IN BANGALORE ON ‘GO SKATEBOARDING DAY’

~Bring Alive the Street Culture of Skating with HolyStoked, This Saturday, 21st June~

Bangalore, 17th June 2014: HolyStoked celebrates Go Skateboarding Day, a day of camaraderie amongst skateboarders, as they unite enthusiasts from different walks of life. Having transformed Bangalore into India’s skateboarding capital, HolyStoked is back, for the third year in a row, continuing its tradition of skating with skateboarders from over 5 cities.

What started off as a grass root initiative with no plan, has now gained momentum to become one of the most talked about events in the skating fraternity. The previous year saw the participation of iconic cities such as Hyderabad, Mumbai and Chennai. In this year’s event, HolyStoked has plans of collaborating with some of the biggest sponsors and supporters to make ‘Go Skateboarding Day’ a mega gathering in Bangalore.

Skateboarding is a sport like no other and this unique organization has a core group of 20 skateboarders, artists, musicians, photographers and designers besides 50-100 kids from BPL families living in and around HSR Layout. Holystoked encourages these kids to get a good education by using skateboarding as a tool.

Further to their cause, the HolyStoked skate park in HSR layout, funded by Levis India, was built by the community with the help of about 50 skateboarders from across the world. The culture surrounding skateboarding is filled with independence and this experience gave HolyStoked a much needed boost with skate parks now being built in different parts of India.

The impact on the mainstream has been so powerful that three members from HolyStoked were invited by “Make Life Skate Life” foundation to help build a free skate park in La Paz in Bolivia.
