Austria’s Marcel Hirscher competes during the Men’s World Cup Slalom on December 18, 2012, in Madonna di Campiglio. Hirscher set the fastest time in the first leg of the slalom.

MADONNA DI CAMPIGLIO, Italy - Austria’s defending overall World Cup champion Marcel Hirscher set the fastest time in the first leg of the slalom here on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old – who is looking for his second win of the season which has also seen him finish on the podium six times – timed 52.07sec to be 0.06sec faster than Germany’s Felix Neureuther while Cristian Deville of Italy was third 0.56sec slower.
