India 1-0 Guam: 5 Talking Points

Robin Singh India Guam

#2 Sehnaj Singh disappoints again

Sehnaj Singh India Guam

Sehnaj Singh had yet another evening to forget wearing an Indian shirt as an absolutely reckless tackle saw him get his marching orders just before half time, leaving India in trouble for the rest of the game.

The build-up to the incident too was poor from Sehnaj as a bad touch in midfield, when he was under little pressure, saw the ball go out of his control leading to Sehnaj stamping on a Guam player. The referee who had a clear view of the incident had little choice but to send off the Delhi Dynamos man.

India were put under extreme pressure by Guam in the second half, who were clearly encouraged by Sehnaj’s sending off and came close on numerous occasions to grab the equalizing goal. Sehnaj has been in and out of the team and hasn’t really been able to put in a performance which warrants a place in the National Team.

It is probably time that Constantine looks at other options for that midfield role as Sehnaj Singh clearly hasn’t been able to make that position his own, despite a few chances falling his way. It’s a position where India can explore a few options and though Sehnaj has a good chance, it seems this may be a turning point for the coach.
