Need for Speed is the franchise that we all think about when we refer to the racing genre. NFS is famous for having brilliant storylines and mind-blowing graphics. The engrossing gameplay mechanism does play a big role in the success of the franchise but one must not look over the cast and crew who put in their time and efforts to provide us with the movie-like cut scenes.Here we shall look at the best scenes that have made their way into the NFS games over the year.
#10 NFS Carbon Career Intro
NFS Carbon is a perfect sequel to NFS Most Wanted 2005. The game starts where Most Wanted 2005 left off. This cut scene is shown before the start of the career mode in the game. The scene starts off with your ‘BMW M3 GTR’ making its way into Palmont City where you are introduced to the world of street racing one more time.
This time, however, the police are well equipped. The shut down the engines of the cars you are racing with and luckily you escape. Now, Cross decides to take the matter into his own hands as he is seen chasing you in his Corvette. The cut scene finishes off with him bang on your tail and you trying to outrun the annoying ‘cop’.
#9 NFS The Run Escape from Las Vegas
The cops have decided to teach the street racers a lesson! This race begins with you trying to evade all the roadblocks and incoming police cars in order to escape from Las Vegas. Soon you realise that you are cornered and the only option left is to leave your car behind and make a ‘run’ for it!
The cops don’t train for nothing as they chase you down in the cut scene and you have to hit, punch, jump your way past the obstacles and walk out of Las Vegas in one piece.
#8 NFS The Run Career Opening Scene
This cut scene would make it seem like money does grow on trees! A perfectly good Porshe is crushed to rubble in this scene and you cannot do anything about it as you are busy trying to save your life! This is not exactly a cut scene as you have to press keys at certain times in order to free yourself as the kidnappers want to crush you along with your Porshe!
You are soon able to save yourself but not your ride. Don’t feel dejected, you may not have got the entire chocolate factory but you sure managed a ‘Hershey’s Kiss’ as you make a run for it on an Audi.
#7 NFS Most Wanted 2005 Blacklist 3
He may be your rival in the game but you cannot deny, Ronnie’s got style! He knows his Aston Martin DB9 like the back of his hand! We can see that clearly in the cut scene shown where he takes on a police car and sends the cop to the hospital the hard way.
A crazy jump with a graceful landing is what makes this cut scene a perfect addition to this list. As if that were not all, he takes down the cop car in style, ramming it at what I suppose would be a perfect 90-degree hit.
#6 NFS Most Wanted 2005 Blacklist 10
I don’t suppose there is anything wrong with a ‘Porsche Cayman S’, do you? Well, if you do, Baron here will prove to you that this car is worth it! The cut scene showing Baron coming in for the race shows him going under the truck and bringing his ride to a halt in front of the race spot.
Now, I am sure you would not let Baron show off alone! The cut scene shows your car drifting around another truck and making its way to the starting point. The degree of control depicted in the cut scene makes it a worthy contender in this list.
#5 NFS Undercover Ending
Need for Speed: Undercover needed you to play your part as an undercover police officer and get into the world of street racing. The setting was similar to the one shown in ‘Fast and the Furious’ except you were now handed the job of being officer ‘Brian O’ Connor’.
This is the scene where your friend gets arrested by the cops and they take a look at the ‘rap sheet’. The praise you get for carrying out the task assigned to you is satisfying and was worth every minute spent on the game.
#4 NFS Most Wanted 2012 Ending Scene
This is the scene shown once the game ends. A cut scene that will give you immense pleasure and joy as now you know that you are finally the ‘most wanted’ racer in the city. The scene shows how you outclassed the police and foiled all the attempts that they made in order to catch you.
The cut scene features high-flying action where the car jumps off of higher ground and drifts perfectly in order to regain control.
#3 NFS Hot Pursuit
This cutscene from NFS Hot Pursuit is rather impressive in terms of the cars featured in it. You get to drive a ‘Pagani Roadster’ while the cops try to chase you down on their ‘Buggati Veyron’! The road on which the car burns rubber is pretty cool too.
You get to watch your car speed past the dense foliage that opens up occasionally to give you a glimpse of the ocean beyond.
#2 NFS Undercover Opening
NFS Undercover was a unique game. It allowed the user to play as both a cop and a street racer. You were given the opportunity to go ‘undercover’ as the name suggests. Here in this cut scene you see your friend introducing you to the racing community while she keeps tabs on them.
The reason why this scene is so special is because it seems like a scene from a movie. The racers are handing over their ‘pink slips’ and their money, and are all ready to smoke the road.
#1 Most Wanted 2005 Final Pursuit
I am sure many of you will agree with me on this one. Need for Speed Most Wanted was by far one of the best NFS games till date. The story finishes off with you getting your ride, ‘BMW M3 GTR’ back from Razor. Nothing like rubbing it into your opponents face i always say.
What’s more is that you get to watch him being taken by the cops! Towards the end of the final pursuit where Cross decides to send ‘everyone’ behind you, you get to run your car off an under construction bridge and drift your way to the ending of an epic game.
