FIFA 15: 10 players who deserve better ratings after 2014 FIFA World Cup

2014 FIFA World Cup was an incredible footballing tournament for those who witnessed the spectacle. The late dramas, the spectacular saves, the incredible goals and of course, the jubilant atmosphere surrounding the game have all but contributed in making the event a grand success. While some established superstars of the game rose on the big occasion, others had to face early exits with disappointments. That doesn’t mar their incredible careers in any way. But what did catch the eye of the fans all over the globe were unknown faces who grabbed the spotlight as the tournament progressed. There wasn’t any bigger stage than the World Cup to announce themselves and with their performances, they certainly convinced the spectators that they are the future of this game. And those upcoming talents will surely be utilised in the virtual world of gaming as FIFA bugs will be waiting in anticipation to play with these footballers in their better upgraded form in FIFA 15 as we all look forward to the upcoming game from EA Sports.Without any further elaboration, let's take a look at 10 players who should get a boost in ratings after their stunning displays at the summer event in Brazil.

#10 Islam Slimani

FIFA 14 – 70

FIFA 15 – 77

Algeria’s standout player , Islam Slimani plays for Sporting Lisbon in the Portuguese league in case you didn’t know about him before the tournament. The 26-year-old gave two memorable performances including the game against South Korea and most importantly against Russia which sealed their qualification to the knockout stages.

It was the best World Cup ever for the African outfit and much of that credit should go to Slimani. He will be one of the emerging players in the next edition of FIFA.

#9 Joel Campbell

FIFA 14 – 74

FIFA 15 – 80

Joel Campbell of Costa Rica has shone for his country on the biggest stage as Costa Rica topped the Group of Death against all odds and qualified for the knockout stages. His pace and trickery up front has been tough to deal with at times and he has played exceptionally well for his team.

The Arsenal forward will definitely be up in the ratings for the next edition of FIFA.

#8 Daley Blind

FIFA 14 – 73

FIFA 15 – 79

The Netherlands left-back has been one of the reasons behind Spain’s demolition in their opening game as he was the one who assisted two goals for the Oranje including the killer long through pass to Robin Van Persie that resulted in one of the best headed goals of the tournament.

The 23-year-old plays for Ajax football club and while his rating says 73 in FIFA 14, playing him in the game never felt anything like that as he is one of the players I totally admired in the game. After such a good outing with the Dutch, Daley Blind will certainly have a higher rating something that is near to 80.

#7 Claudio Bravo

FIFA 14 – 81

FIFA 15 – 84

Chilean goalkeeper Claudio Bravo has been rock solid in front of goal in this World Cup. His saves in the round-of-16 game against Brazil were magnificent although they exited from the game by losing in a penalty shoot-out.

Nonetheless, the Real Sociedad man has been one of Chile’s stars in this tournament and his reflexes and moves do show that he deserves to move higher in the rankings among the best goalkeepers.

#6 Marcus Rojo

FIFA 14 - 76

FIFA 15 – 82

Marcus Rojo has started at left-back position for Argentina. But the 24-year-old plays as a centre-back for the Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon. Either way, Rojo has shown that he is more than capable of handling both the positions without any discomfort.

He has been one of the shining stars for the Albiceleste at this World Cup, even though they fell inches short of achieving the trophy. And a rating of 76 should go up somewhere above the region of 80 to reflect how good a defender he is.

#5 Juan Cuadrado

FIFA 14 – 81

FIFA 15 – 84

After James Rodriguez, Juan Cuadrado has been the best player in this World Cup for Colombia. The Fiorentina winger has dazzled many with his scintillating performances and is already under the transfer radar of FC Barcelona.

He has assisted 4 of Colombia’s goals in the tournament. As one of the uprising talents of world football, Cuadrado should be getting a better rating in FIFA 15.

#4 Guillermo Ochoa

FIFA 14 – 78

FIFA 15 – 84

The man who turned out to be Mexico’s hero in the game against Brazil. Guillermo Ochoa was one of the most influential players and certainly the best goalkeeper of this tournament. The free agent was an unknown figure on a global scale but burst into the limelight with his majestic performances at the World Cup.

Ochoa’s positioning and handling of the ball have been sensational but FIFA still didn’t seem to be convinced as those two areas have been poorly rated by EA Sports developers. After the tournament ends, one should be surprised if he is not rated higher than his previous rating.

#3 Memphis Depay

FIFA 14 – 73

FIFA 15 – 81

Memphis Depay, who plays in PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch league has shone under Van Gaal in the colors of The Oranje. The 20-year-old winger scored the winning goal against Chile and played an important part in the pre-quarters game against Mexico.

With dazzling pace and good agility, he can be a great future prospect for his country as well as for us FIFA gamers and he certainly does belong to the category of 80 rankings.

#2 James Rodriguez

FIFA 14 – 83

FIFA 15 – 86

I have been a great admirer of James Rodriguez since his days in FC Porto. He has been the reason why I used to take Porto a lot for the online games. The Monaco winger has risen to the grand occasion as he has been the man behind Colombia’s success in this World Cup. For many, James has been the best player of the tournament.

The best moment from the Colombian attacker was the cracking volley against Uruguay in the round-of-16 tie which was his 5th goal of the tournament. Rodriguez has convinced the world about his talents as a player and the big guns are already on the hunt for acquiring his services as the next season of club football edges closer.

So EA Sports should take notice and include Rodriguez above the range of 85

#1 Thomas Muller

FIFA 14 – 85

FIFA 15 – 88

Thomas Mueller ended up notching 5 goals in the tournament. The Bayern Munich striker tormented the Portuguese defence by scoring a hat-trick and then scored the winning goal in the last group game against the US.

He has 10 goals from two World Cup tournaments and is well on his way to challenge the all-time record of his compatriot Miroslav Klose who broke the 15-goal haul of Brazilian Ronaldo. His movement and finishing are the best attributes and FIFA 15 should work on increasing those attacking stats of Muller.
