#10 House of the Dead
This is one of the earliest and the most played horror game. Released in the early 90’s, “House of the Dead” marks the entry of the horror game genre in the PC and Gameboy platforms in the First Person mode
The game can also be played with another friend of yours, making it one of the ealy multiplayer games also. Seeing the time when the game was released, the featured very good graphics and design of the “dead” in it along with a constant tense atmosphere. In the game, you are tasked to save one of your colleagues who gets trapped inside the “House of the Dead”. The game is actually scary and has some very good boss fights. The scene which I’m going to mention now might scare you from visitng for an eye check up. This game showed that if your eye check up goes bad, you die an excrutiatin death.
As Dead Space 2's protagonist Isaac Clarke straps himself in for some DIY surgery/information extraction, it's up to you to keep a steady hand, or Isaac ends up mutilated and, well, dead. The scene is so disturbing that you might want to take your eyes away from the screen when Clarke is suffering and dying.

No, I’m not talking about the Zombie mode. I’m talking about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s nuke explosion scene. CoD is not a horror game, but there are some scenes in the game which will actually scare the heck out of you.
One of them is the scene where the nuclear explosion occurs. More than the visuals which were shown, the more interesting thing is how they showed it.The scene was shown from the perspective of first person and it was without any doubt, devastating. The scene actually makes you think that even warfare games can be scary.
#7 Heavy Rain
Heavy rain is one of the most succsessful games and also ranks among the highest rated games also. The game was released exclusively for the PlayStation platform which received universal acclaim. In the game, you will have to find and track down a serilal killer, the Origami Killer, who uses heavy rains as his cover.
During the course of the game, you play the character of Ethan, and you will have to take several dangerous steps in order to find the killer and also to save your son. Amongst all the tasks, the most horrifying one is the one where Ethan has to cut off one of his fingers. And the hardest part is that you as the player will have to force Ethan to do it. Not only it’s very disturbing to watch, it is very difficult to make him do it, even virtually.

When it was revealed that the series was going to get a reboot, no one would have thought that the game will feature such a bold and violent gameplay. Released in 2013, the game received universal acclaim for it’s visuals, story and string voice acting.
The intro cinematic of the game was totally unexpected to anyone. We see Lara hanging upside down, and as she tries to free herself she falls down on the ground with a metal rod peircin through her abdomen, and you actually have to remove it. Not only this, there are several situations in the game that if you do the movements wrong, Lara dies a gruesome death.

Resident Evil has given us a few moments where we can say that the game has disappointed us. Otherwise, the game has always offered excellent gameplay with tense atmospheric battles with strong story and boss fights.

“Batman: Arkham Sylum” isn’t a scary game, but it does provide tense situations to deal with, and one of them is the Killer Crocs lair. In this level, you have to be silen like a mute. You will have restricted movements also.
You can only walk, because if you run you will alert Killer Croc and then you’re dead. Also, if you accidentally fall in the water, again Croc will kill you. And to top all these, the Killer Croc can come out from nowhere to startle you and if you’re not quick enough, then you’re dead.
#1 Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Why is “Amnesia” regarded as the most scariest game? Well the answer might be the intense surrounding and the amazing ghost-voices which adds more thrill to the game. The game is played from the first person perspective and trust me when I say that this is not a child’s game.
Several areas of the game are very disturbing one of them being the “morgue”. In this level, you have to drill through the skull of a dead body kept in the morgue to extract cure for a disease. But you have to do it very carefully,and if the ghosts detect you, then within seconds you’re dead.
