We take a look at some of our favorite franchise/games and how they looked when they made their debut in the gaming world.

#1 FIFA

Fifa International Soccer(1993) | Fifa 16

Same game every year eh? Fifa has changed a lot over the years, but it all started with EA sports releasing “International Soccer” in 1993.

This marked the beginning of one of the most loved as well as a hated annual franchise. But let’s face it the Internet tends to hate every annual franchise these days. From 1994 onwards, the game was called “FIFA”. Hardcore FIFA fans would know that the initial FIFA games also had an indoor mode.

#2 Cricket

Cricket 1999 | Don Bradman Cricket(2014)

Cricket games have evolved a lot over the years. The first cricket game from EA sports didn’t have any left-handers. Every batsman was right handed.

EA sports supported cricket games till 2007, after that they decided to put the series to rest. Codemasters, the developers of Brain Lara cricket tried to cease this opportunity by releasing cricket games in 2009 and 2012.

Both of these installments were disappointing as well as uninspiring. Cricket fans were left with no good game, This changed when a small studio called “Big Ants” decided to give the love this sport deserved for a very long time. Don Bradman Cricket 2014 is the best cricket game to ever hit the market.

#3 Call Of Duty

Call Of Duty(2003) | Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3(2015)

Call Of Duty has come a long way over the years. It is regarded as one of the best, if not best First person shooter game to have ever hit the markets.

What was once a single player only world war shooter, it is now one of the most competitive game available in the market. The series took a big jump with the release of Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It continues to develop and improve year after year with its latest releasing coming to the stores near you in November.

#4 Battlefield

Battlefield 1942(2002) | Battlefield 4(2013)

Battlefield was not necessarily EA’s primary shooter considering how famous Medal of honor was during early 2000.

The release of “Battlefield: Bad Company” changed everything. The franchise rised up the ranks and eventually managed to compete with Call Of Duty. The release of Battlefield 3 posed up a real fight to the call of duty franchise and since then the franchise has only gone higher and higher(except for hardline, though).

#5 Mad Max

Mad Max(1990) | Mad Max(2015)

Not many people know about this. The earlier Mad Max movies also had a game released along with it.

There isn’t really much to tell you about this game except for the fact that it released on the NES and it was an awful game. The latest game is pretty mediocre as well though visually and sound wise it is stunning, but takes a hit when it comes to the story that is an important factor to note.

#6 Star Wars:Battlefront

Star Wars:Battlefront(2004) | Star Wars:Battlefront(2015)

Star Wars: Battlefront was one of the best games to ever release on the Playstation 2.

The major reason behind that was the ever so addictive multiplayer. Its latest entry release in less than 2 months and the hype for that is a game is over the roof. Apart from the noticeable graphical jump(duh), We can only hope that the game surpasses its predecessor.

#7 Need For Speed

Need For Speed(1994) | Need For Speed(2015)

Need for speed is another gaming franchise that has grown a lot over the years.

The game started as an over the top street racing which quickly transformed into various other things in order to provide the much-needed variety a annual franchise should have. The last few entries have been disappointing. So the pressure on the latest installment, which is sort of a reboot is high. If ghost studios successfully deliver the racing experience fans want for so long, Need for speed could become the ruler of the road once again.

This was a game that many childhood memories are attached with and the franchise continues to raise the bar with each release every year.

#8 Metal Gear Solid

Metal Gear Solid(1998) | Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain(2015)

The series which defined the stealth genre as well as engaging storytelling in games has grown the most over the years.

Each entry in this loved franchise has introduced many innovative and gamechanging elements. Its latest release “MGS V Phantom Pain” has recieved positive remarks from every critic just like its predecessor. If you want to learn the true difference in games over the years, Metal Gear Solid is your game.

#9 Grand Theft Auto

Grand Theft Auto(1997) | Grand Theft Auto III(2001) | Grand Theft Auto V(2013)

Almost every gamer in this world knows about Grand theft auto. It’s one of the most controversial yet loved a franchise in the gaming industry.
