ISL 2015: Jerseys of all eight teams

The biggest football tournament in India is all set to begin in less than 24 hours. For two months, the entire sporting focus of a nation shifts from cricket to football. This year’s edition could be a grander success compared to it’s predcessor as each team has garnered more than 15 sponsors. A mixture of glamour and football, ISL is football’s equivalent to the Indian Premier League (IPL). The new season also promises to showcase some fine jerseys, with several teams deciding to scrap their previous designs. Here are all the eight jerseys to be donned by the various franchises.

#1 Atletico de Kolkata

The reigning ISL champions have stuck to their previous jersey design, which is comprised of red and white vertical stripes.

The kit will be manufactured by Nivia this time and Birla tyres have recently replaced Aircel as their principal sponsors, whereas Apollo Munich remains as the co-sponsor this time. Their logos will appear on the back of the team jersey.

#2 Chennaiyin FC

The Chennaiyan squad might be the one of the few teams who haven’t changed much from the jerseys to their squads.

Principal sponsor Ozone Group have extended their contract with the Chennai-based franchise this year. The company has been running several grassroot level programmes in association with the Ozone Football Academy.

Their jersey is blue in colour, and will have the Ozone Group's name on the front, along with the team crest.

#3 Delhi Dynamos

The logo of the Delhi Dynamos has been designed to define power, aggression and passion, which is intrinsic to football as well as to India’s capital. The Lion in the crest symbolizes power. Also, the shape and mane of the Lion has been crafted in the form of a shield.

Last year’s, orange jersey has been replaced by their new white and blue kit manufacturerd by PUMA. The colours used in the crest are Red and Blue.The crest also has the historic Red Fort, which means the leaders of India or the guardians of the Country.

#4 FC Goa

The Goa jersey too, is very vibrant and stylish, navy blue in colour, with little bits of orange stripes surrounded by white, around the neck and sleeves. Adidas is the kit manufacturer.Zico’s team is loaded with Brazilian stars this year, with one of the most consistent Brazilian defenders Lucio as their marquee signing.

FC Goa are set to begin their campaign against Delhi Dynamos on the October 4, in their own backyard.

#5 FC Pune City

The FC Pune City franchise have made some fresh signings this year, with the likes of former Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu, British footballer Nicky Shorey and Turkish legend Tuncay Sanli. The team is a very solid unit, who have genuine ambitions of going ahead and winning theis edition of the ISL.

They were also the biggest spenders in the ISL auctions this time around, paying around Rs 1 crore for Indian national team midfielder Eugenson Lyngdoh. Their kit consists of orange and purple vertical stripes, and is sponsored by Adidas.

#6 Kerala Blasters FC

Last year’s ISL runners up Kerala Blasters co-owned by cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar and PVP ventures head, Prasad Potluri will be the team to watch out for this year.

Their kit was launched by the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar last week, where it was revealed that the kit is yellow in colour, with Puma as the manufacturer. The title sponsor was the Muthoot Pappachan Group, with the company tagline displayed on the jersey.

#7 Mumbai City FC

The Mumbai franchise co-owned by Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor and chartered accountant Bimal Parekh has one of the strongest forward lines this year.

With the likes of French legend Nicholas Anelka, national team captain Sunil Chhetri and ILeague winner Sony Nordy in their ranks, they are sure to score some fantastic goals.Their official colours are a combination of blue with red, along with a deep red stripe flowing across the front.

#8 NorthEast United FC

The only team from the north eastern part of the country probably has the most balanced squad of the tournament this year.

The team will sport a very simple, yet stylish jersey during their matches. NorthEast United FC’s jersey will be sponsored by Performax this year. Their kit is predominantly white, with black and red in between, and has an interesting collar design.
