Washington State v USC
Washington State Cougars v USC Trojans

The California Golden Bears will be on the road on Saturday (November 5) in a Pac-12 matchup against the ninth-ranked USC Trojans.

The Golden Bears are not playing too well as they are ninth in the conference with a 3-5 (1-4) record and are on a four-game losing streak after a 42-24 home loss against the Oregon Beavers.

The Trojans are 7-1 (5-1) and are second in the conference. They were able to win on the road against the Arizona Wildcats in a 45-37 scoring shootout.

California Golden Bears vs USC Trojans: Match Details

Game: California Golden Bears vs USC Trojans

Date & Time: Saturday, November 5, 10:30 pm EDT

Venue: Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Los Angeles, California

The California Golden Bears are struggling offensively as they have scored 23.4 points on 374.5 total yards per game thus far. Senior quarterback Jack Plummer has been a solid quarterback with a 13:5 touchdown to interception ratio. He, however, struggled with a touchdown and a pair of interceptions last week. They also have a good rushing attack with freshman running back Jaydn Ott as he is averaging 5.8 yards per carry with five rushing touchdowns, as well as a pair of receiving touchdowns as their best skill player.

Their defense has been doing decently well as they are allowing 25 points per game thus far. They have been forcing mistakes throughout the season as they have 10 interceptions and four fumble recoveries, but are not getting to the quarterback as they have 13 total sacks.

The USC Trojans have a more balanced offensive philosophy as they are averaging 41 points on 493.5 total yards per game. Sophomore quarterback Caleb Williams has been doing phenomenally as the Trojans tied for third in the nation with 24 passing touchdowns and just a single interception. They also are running the football incredibly well behind senior running back Travis Dye, who has run for eight touchdowns, as well as averaging 6.3 yards per attempt.

Their defense needs to continue stepping up as they are giving up 24 points on 401.8 total yards per game. They have to improve as they are giving up 152.1 rushing yards and that makes things a lot tougher.

California Golden Bears vs USC Trojans: Pick

This feels like a steal as Caleb Williams has thrown for 10 touchdowns in their last two games. He has thrown for, at least, three touchdowns in three of the previous four games as well.

Looking at California's defense last week, they allowed three passing touchdowns against Oregon, so it is not like this is going to be a huge ask now. With running back Travis Dye, wide receiver Tahj Washington, and others, it will be tough to defend them all. He is not going to make mistakes with just a single interception as well, so he will keep possession.

Pick: Caleb Williams Over 2.5 Touchdown Passes (-120)

California Golden Bears vs USC Trojans: Prediction

Both teams have been doing well against the spread this season, but the defenses are showing that this game can be closer than expected. In their previous three games, the Golden Bears allowed 30 points per game, while the Trojans gave up 31.3 points per game. California's offense has been improving a bit lately, and though I think the Trojans win the game outright, this game is going to be closer than three possessions as California can run the ball against this USC defense.

Prediction: California Golden Bears +21.5 (-110)
