2010:The big sports year

2010 is yet to begin, yet to bring in the joy, yet to bring in that feeling, it is yet to bring in the happiness and the agony, heart breaks and champions, true blues and reds, the rogers and williams, 90 minutes of adrenaline a second of greatness, a kick, a save, a catch, a hit, a dribble, a run….and we wait, grasp for that last breath of 2009, we all will need it, the action will seep into our minds, and we all will need it, it will stop us at midnight hours to watch spectacular….to watch magic, to watch fantasy, four years we waited for this, the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Kaka, Drogba, they will play we will watch…

The year of the big event…FIFA World Cup. 32 teams will battle it out between June 11th and July 11th to win the cup, more like winning a dream, a dream not only for the teams playing but for the host country South Africa, the first African country to host a world cup. Cheers and tears thats what 2010 is about, our regular pack of grand slams, cricket matches, IPL, the T20 World cup, the Hockey world cup, Formula One races with the Schumacher comeback and the greatest of them all, the football world cup. Just listen to the buzz, its so huge, drums and beats, cars rolling into the sun, two teams, with minds stronger than the game, two players, with racquets large enough to rally, and millions with eyes wide open, hopes so high, cheers so loud, stadiums will stutter, and heads will roll….this winter, this summer, this autumn, this spring……..so switch on your sporty side….they are all here to stay!!!

The world of sports has given me everyday a reason to live through even the most mundane tasks because at the end of the day there was that Nadal Federer match to watch or Chelsea working towards it's premiership title, Sehwag battling his way through a tough Aussie attack, Button speeding his way to the championship, D’Souza defending for a winning scoreline, Messi running his magic on Barcelona soil or Bolt strutting his way to a record.
My passion for sports grew from the days of Boon Boon in cricket, watching the Azhar style on the ground, the Waugh brothers spelling magic, to the awe and admiration for Sachin and the stories of class and style about Sir Don Bradman. It grew into something bigger and closer to me, something that leaves me feeling excited about days and days of in depth, pure, hard, emotional, heart breaking, ground breaking, crazy, breath taking action taking place around me everyday.
