As Tejaswini Sawant rejoiced after her 457.9 attempt which helped her clinch the gold medal, there was more reason to celebrate as she had also broken the previously set record of 449.1 by Singapore's Xiang Wei Jasmine in the 2014 Glasgow edition.

The 37-year old, who comes from the city of Kolhapur, clinched her third gold medal from the Commonwealth Games, after her previous bout in 2006 where she won gold in the 10m air rifle pairs event and the 10m air rifle individual competition.

Qualifying third, Tejaswini put in a spirited performance in the finals that saw her overcome some tense moments to finish on top with a stunning score of 457.9.
