Freestyle Football is the art of expressing oneself, an art that defines one’s passion for the game of football. Popular in Europe and South America, the sport is growing its recognition in India as well at India’s X-game. It all started when a major Sports Apparel Brand launched advertisements featuring stars like Ronaldinho, Christiano Ronaldo and Edgar Davids.
Held in parallel with the Dermalogica Football League, Mumbai soon would have its own Freestyle Football ’11 contest this March. The contest is open for all ages and will kick-off on March 27th with the finale on the 24th of April at Priyadarshini Park, Mumbai. Contestants will be given a chance to show off their skills in front of well-known footballers from the country and abroad.
Rubix 2011
Thadomal Sahani Engineering College, Bandra hosted the first in the series of promotion events during Rubix 2011, the college’s technical event. Participants gave it their best to juggle the ball for maximum times. With music from the DJ, whistles from their classmates, the event began to shape up to its next level. The crowd took centre-stage and the ball started to roll. From a one-on-one it was a clash of the departments in no time. From 5 juggles to 15, from 15 to 25 and the count went on. The winner took 105, Jerseys by SportsKeeda.com and some of the intangible benefits of showing off your skills to the pretty ladies, this time officially!

As soon as the host announced gift vouchers for skin treatment by Dermalogica, the girls stormed in. It was as simple as, juggle the ball three times and you win yourself the voucher. Six of the 27 participating girls did manage to win the vouchers and show the boys, even they could kick it! As the hour passed by the winners shared stage with some other freestylers and the crowd went crazy looking at all of the action moves in live.
