There is extreme excitement in the air as the world cup is just around the corner .There are only few days to go for this grand event. Like billions of other Indians I am extremely excited for this magnificent event. The Indian team goes into this tournament as strong favorites. Our side possesses immense talent and there is definitely no shortage of experience and exuberance. Our batting lineup is outstanding it consists of MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar,Virender Sehwag,Gautam Gambhir,Suresh Raina,Virat Kohli,Yuvraj Singh,Yusuf Pathan.
All these players have been match winners for India. We can definitely say that this a dream batting line up for any country. We can be playing only 7 batsmen which means one player has to be sitting on the bench with all the players in form it going to be difficult descion about who should be sitting on the bench. Our bowling department on the other hand does not look to strong.
One of our key bowler Praveen Kumar has been ruled out of the world cup because of an elbow injury. For his replacement Sreesanth is being considered. Which I feel is not a very strong option. Sree prefers to show his rage on field than his performance. However on the other hand we have our other strike bowler, Zaheer Khan who is in top form. He will be our main strength during the world. Ashish Nehra has also been good form lately. For our spin department we have Harbhajan Singh whose always has helped India turn matches not only in the bowling department but also in the batting department. Surprise pick in the spinners has been Piyush Chawla he does not have too much experience nor has he been too successful for the Indian camp.
Now looking at our group stages draw, we are going to be playing South Africa, West Indies, Ireland, Netherlands and Bangladesh. Our Group stages draw looks pretty easy. India has a real chance of winning the group and thus ensuring a more straightforward quarter final draw, perhaps A game against Pakistan would be an awesome spectacle for home fans and neutrals alike, though.
With expectation, however, comes pressure. If India fails to perform early on in the tournament the Indian crowds could turn on the side, resulting in the magnification of any cracks that appear. With the experience in the side this shouldn’t happen, but pressure and expectation can do funny things.
Well let us hope and pray that the men in blue bring home glory.
