India won 30 medals (6 gold, 8 silver and 16 bronze) on Day 3 of the Asian Para Games 2023. On Wednesday, October 25, it was in athletics that world records were broken and Indians impressed the most. In fact, all six gold medals were bagged in athletics.

The day began with a bang, as Sumit Antil from Sonepat set a new bar for para athletics as he broke own world record with a 73.29m effort in the javelin throw F64 category. Sumit is a leg amputee, and had to perform with a prosthetic leg attached to his left knee.

The 25-year-old broke his previous world record of 70.83m. Pushpendra Singh also threw 62.06m effort and had to settle for a bronze medal in what were early signs of the success India were to achieve on Day 3.

Ankur Dharma became the first athlete to win two gold medals in a single Asian para games when he took home gold in T11 1500m race with a time of 4:27.70. He had won the gold in the T11 5000m on Day 2.

India had a field day in the F46 Javelin throw when Sundar Singh Gurjar set a new world record with a 68.60m throw, and was joined in the podium by Rinku and Ajeet Singh, who took home silver and bronze, respectively.

Rakshitha Raju won gold in the T11 1500m race, while Kilaka Lalitha won silver in the same event. Haney and Nimisha Suresh Chakkungalparambil won golds in the F37/38 Javelin throw event and the women's T47 long jump events.
