With just over 50 days left for the start of the 2016 Rio Olympics, the organisers of the event unveiled the medals that would be handed out to the winners at the Summer Games in August.
A total of 2488 medals have been produced, with each weighing about 500gm. 812 out of those are Golds and Silvers while the remaining 824 are Bronze medals.
The design consists of laurel leaves that surrounds the Rio 2016 logo and it symbolises victory in ancient Greece and according to the organisers, they celebrate "the relationship between the strengths of Olympic heroes and the forces of nature".

Th Games commence from the 5th August and go on until the 21st of August.
