South Africa won the lightweight men’s four gold at the London Olympics rowing regatta here on Thursday.

The winning four — James Thompson, Matthew Brittain, John Smith and Sizwe Ndlovu — made up late ground to pip favourites Great Britain, with Beijing 2008 champions Denmark taking bronze.
