Day 3 of the South Asian Games 2019 was a fruitful one for India. Here is the the Medal Tally roundup for Day 3 of the multi-sport event. After the Karate, Triathlon and Taekwondo events yesterday, the action shifted to Athletics, Volleyball, Wushu and Shooting.

Home team, Nepal dominated the proceedings once again as they won 8 gold medals today. Kajal Shrestha won the gold in women's Wushu 46 kg category while Bir Bahadur Mahara captured the gold in the men's Wushu 68 kg category. Besides, Nepal also won silver and bronze medals in the other categories. Nepal won the gold medal in Chan Quan Thaulo Wushu event in both the male and female divisions.

Sony Gurung won the gold medal in women's duathlon event while Santoshi Srestha finished the 10,000 meters race in 35 minutes to win the gold.

Talking about the performance of other countries now, India won 12 gold medals to reduce the gap between themselves and Nepal. After winning the men's and women's badminton events, Jishna M won the women's high jump event. Archana Suseent emerged victorious in the women's 100 meters race while Sarvesh Anil won the men's high jump competition.

Ajay Kumar Saro and Ajeet Kumar finished at the first and second positions in the 1500 meters race however, the Indian male athletes could not win a medal in the 100 meters event. Apart from badminton, India won the gold medal in men's and women's Volleyball tournament.

Shifting our focus to shooting now, the Indian women won all the three medals on offer in the 10 meter air rifle event. Chain Singh won the gold in the men's 50 meter 3 rifle tourney and Yogesh Singh seized the gold medal in 25 meter center pistol fire. All in all, India ruled their opponents in the sport of shooting.

Maldives opened their account with a victory in the men's 100 meter race as they overtook Bhutan on the medal tally. Bhutan have won only three bronze medals so far. Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh won two golds each today.

The gap between India and Nepal is of just 7 gold medals now while the overall difference is of only 4 medals. It will be intriguing to see if India can take the number 1 position tomorrow.
