With cries getting louder and louder for the need to increase the safety of women in India, a 12th standard girl has sent shockwaves across the nation with a baffling display of martial arts that set an example to the rest of the world.

The 18-year old Priyanka Singha Roy was reportedly cycling with her sister to a shop in West Bengal when a group of assailants tried to attack them following which Priyanka brought her martial arts skill to the fore that drove the men away, but only after they were bruised and battered to the ground.

While there are rules set in the country that provides a route of safety for women, the criminal cases have always been on the rise owing to which young women nowadays opt to undergo training in the form of martial arts to protect themselves and their close ones from any sort of danger.

The heart of the Matter

According to a tweet from Tota Roy Chowdhury, a famous actor and martial arts specialist, the 18-year-old and her sister were walking towards a shop when a group of 3 men, oblivious to the skills of the teenager tried to make remarks at the girls and also physically made contact with them with irked Priyanka.

As they persisted with their ways even after Priyanka asked them to back off, the bold teenager then took matters into her own hands as she beat up the men and forced them onto the ground as onlookers stood in shock.

Soon, a crowd enveloped the men following which the situation at hand spread like wildfire over social media. The teenager's courage and vigour were applauded while some others opted to label the incident as an 'inspiration' for good times ahead.

This incident will definitely prove to be an eye-opener for many women, who might be inspired to take up the task of learning martial arts, a tool which could be more than useful for self-defence.
