Obliterating all opposing teams for a period that stretched as long as eight years, the Australian cricket team of the late 90s and early to mid 2000s was the very personification of the word 'dominance'.

With the groundwork having been laid by Mark Taylor, the Australian teams lead by Steve Waugh and later by Ricky Ponting demolished nearly every team in the world. During this period Australia won three consecutive ICC World Cups (1999, 2003, 2007), held the ICC No. 1 ranking in both Tests and ODIs, and established record winning streaks in both formats of the game.

The period also saw a 5-0 destruction of England in the Ashes.

After the five European Cup triumphs, the original cup was permanently awarded to Real Madrid - so overwhelming was their dominance. In 1966 Real won the European Cup again, with a team composed entirely of players belonging to the same nationality, which was the first time such a feat had been accomplished in the tournament's history.

No one can deny that Real Madrid during the 50s and 60s were among the most dominant teams ever seen in sport.

The Boston Celtics' period of domination started in 1957 after Bill Russell joined the team. The team was coached by Red Auerbach till 1966. Later, Bill Russell joined the team as a coach after his retirement that same year. During that era, the Celtics clashed with the Lakers in the finals five times. This started an intense and often bitter rivalry that has spanned generations.

The Boston Celtics of the mid-1950s–60s are widely considered one of the most dominant teams of all time.
