Back in the bygone days, sportspeople never really put much emphasis on what they wore. Now, however, things have changed as wearing performance enhanced sporty gears has become a priority in the world of sports.

The better the sportswear, the more we could expect from a player.

However, there is also another side of the coin here that we almost always overlook: the impact on the environment due to factories mass producing these garments. The climate change around the world has become very apparent and it is a testament that if we don’t take measures in time, we might be doomed in the future.

And hence, it came as a fresh breath of air when we heard about R|Elan™ coming up with a sustainable fabric. What is special about it, you ask? Well, the fabric is created from pet plastic bottles! Yes, that’s right! Plastic has been converted to a sustainable fabric that was used to make awe-inspiring designs from Alcis X Nari by designer Narendra Kumar.

It was apt that this collection was showcased during day four of the Lakme Fashion Week in a thematic presentation dubbed “My Earth My Style”.

The collection created by leading fashion designer Narendra Kumar aimed to infuse a responsible fashion sense among sports and fitness lovers for those who have a discerning sense of fashion albeit with a conscience.

Sanya Malhotra, the actress of the movie ‘Dangal’, was among the people that walked the ramp to showcase the breakthrough product designed by Narendra Kumar Ahmed using R|Elan™ greengold fabrics. She seemed very impressed with the style and the comfort that the clothing oozed.

In her own words: “They [Alcis X Nari powered by R|Elan™] have come up with such a lovely collection. These are clothes which are sustainable. You can look amazing… like wearing these at leisure, to your gym, to whatever place you are going to.”

She then went on to speak about the importance of using sustainable products in order to ensure a better future for the next generation.

“I think it is high time we all educate ourselves about sustainability, about how to keep our environment safe and our mother earth safe [and] the product that are good for not only for the environment but also sustainable, so that our future generation is not getting affected by it.”

Alcis X Nari is made from R|Elan™ GreenGold fabric, which is basically recycled polyester from waste PET Bottles. R|Elan™ Fabric 2.0 based garments originate with the newest novelties that apparel manufacturing has to offer.

The fabrics from R|Elan™ GeenGold are durable, comfortable, and made from recyclable material used in soda bottles, water bottles, food jars and so on, making it friendly for the environment.

On top of that, given that this is a sports product, athletes that wear it shall be exuding a message towards the betterment of the environment. All of us look at sports stars as heroes and when our heroes start wearing sustainable product, it will also motivate use to follow suit.

The other thing about the collection is that it comes at a very affordable price. Normally, sustainable products are expensive but in the case of Alcis X Nari powered by R|Elan™, they are as affordable as it could get.

R|Elan™ has taken a major step towards the betterment of mother-nature by powering the Alcis X Nari line of clothing. When one leads by example, the others tend to follow.

And now as Alcis lead the way by partnering with R|Elan™, it could be just a matter of time before other sports garments companies follow in their footsteps.
