5 Players That Will Likely Have To Accept A Lesser Role in 2023-24 NBA Season

it's never easy to transition into a role player from a star player. Players achieve that status for years, but with age, their lesser impact forces them to accept a diminished role.

We take a look at 5 players who will likely have to accept a lesser role in the 2023-24 NBA season.

1. James Harden

James Harden's time in Phily is over. He isn't likely to get a starring role again. The market for him his limited and could force him to accept a smaller role on a contender.

2. Klay Thompson

Klay Thompson's playoff struggles indicated the age is catching up with him. With guys like Andrew Wiggins on the Warriors, Thompson will likely have to accept a third option role.

3. Bradley Beal

Bradley Beal went from being a No. 1 option to a No. 3 option upon his move to Phoenix. He might get open shots with KD and Book on the floor, but he won't be the primary option.

4. Chris Paul

Chris Paul could be coming off the bench for the first time in his career regularly. The Warriors aren't likely to sacrifice Klay Thompson's starting role for CP3.

5. D'Angelo Russell

If D'Lo stays on the Lakers, his role might be at best the 4th option behind AD, LeBron and rising star Austin Reaves. D'Lo may even have to come off the bench.
