5 things that made NFL fans hate Roger Goodell

One of the least liked commissioners in professional sports is Roger Goodell. Here are 5 reasons that have led to his demeaning reputation among NFL supporters.

The ‘No More’ campaign

The 'No More' campaign was implemented by Goodell. The NFL sold "No More" merchandise as part of the campaign. Goodell's campaign was intended to raise awareness of the issue rather than funds for it. Fans were furious and felt duped that the NFL was virtually making money off domestic violence.

Prior to the 2011 season, negotiations between the NFL and players took place. Goodell held meetings with owners and players. He tried to distance the fans from the players by saying that the lockout was "for them." The players were pressured to sign an unfavorable contract.

Opinion on national anthem protests

He claims that he is acting in the interests of the fans at all times. There were many NFL supporters who supported the protest movement as well as those who supported the anthem's respect. You cannot set fans against one another and then claim to have their best interests at heart.

Nobody is aware of what caused the Patriots' deflated football problem in the AFC. It would have been fine  to punish the team and Brady, but Goodell made it a witch hunt. He pursued Brady and intended to suspend him. He was eventually able to suspend Brady for 4 games in the 2016 season.

His $64 million salary

The fans were surprised by Goodell's salary during the pandemic. NFL fans were incensed that Goodell wasn't acting in the best interests of the fans or the game, and it became clear with this salary that he was merely a for the 32 owners.
