Can You Evolve Scyther Into Kleavor In Pokemon GO?

With Kleavor's arrival in Pokemon GO during the May 2023 Raid Day, a common question that can arise among players is whether Scyther's evolutionary line will be updated with the arrival of the Axe Pokemon.

Pokemon

This is a valid query because, as fans of the mainline series very well know, Kleavor is one of the final forms of Scyther that players can get in the Hisui region, with the other being Scyther.

A common query

Kleavor is a dual-type pocket monster with a Bug and Rock combination. It was introduced back in Generation VIII with Pokemon Legends Arceus.

Who is Kleavor?

Bulbapedia describes it as having an exoskeleton and axe-like formations at the end of its hands, thus its moniker as the Axe Pokemon.

In Pokemon Legends Arceus, trainers could get their hands on Kleavor by using a Black Augurite on Scyther. Black Augurite is received as a request reward in Jubilife Village, but it can also occasionally be found on Gravelers.

For now, players will sadly not get the option to evolve Scyther into Kleavor using the Black Augurite, as mentioned before.

Scyther won’t evolve into Kleavor

The official blog post stated - “Raids are currently the only way to obtain Kleavor. Scyther is currently unable to evolve into Kleavor in Pokemon GO.”

Given that the game does not currently have the Black Augurite evolution item, it will also be interesting to see whether developers will keep the requirement or tweak it if the evolution is added in the future.

Evolution mechanic

For those who have already caught Kleavor, they will need to provide the pocket monster with the best moveset to make it efficient. Given its offensive prowess, a combination of Air Slash and Rock Slide can work wonders.
