The movie "Avatar: The Way of Water" premiered on December 16, 2022, and both audiences and critics have given it high praise.
While "The Way of Water" marked the franchise's return after a 13-year hiatus, another installment in the Avatar series, Avatar 3, is expected to be released soon.
Avatar 3, which is yet to be titled, is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on December 20, 2024.
The film series has grown into a five-part series, with a potential release schedule that may extend until 2028.
Producer Jon Landau has said that a significant portion of the third film has already been filmed, and that production on the fourth installment of the series, Avatar 4, has already begun.
"The Way of Water" saw the death of Neteyam, the oldest son of Jake Sully, which greatly affected the family.
The upcoming film could revolve around Lo'ak, Neteyam's brother, taking on more responsibilities as the family struggles to come to terms with the loss and move forward.
Avatar 3 will see the return of actors such as Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Sigourney Weaver, and more reprising their roles from previous films.
