What is the NVP? All you need to know about Baker Mayfield's Week 16 trophy

Like NFL's MVP award, Nickelodeon introduced its own prize called the NVP, which is granted to the top player in their broadcast that week.

NVP, which stands for "Nickelodeon Valuable Player," was first given as a prize at the conclusion of an NFL Wild Card game that aired on the channel.

The NVP has been awarded thrice through these Nickelodeon broadcasts. In 2021, Mitchell Trubisky received the award and in 2022 it was Dak Prescott. Each of these were Wild Card games.

The idea gained enough traction for the NFL to create a weekly show named 'NFL Slimetime' to honor the NVP each week of the regular season.

The award is decided by fan voting and given to the best player on the Nickelodeon broadcast that week.

In Week 16, the Broncos took on the Rams, and Nickelodeon aired the game live. The NVP went to Baker Mayfield, who completed 24 of 28 passes for 230 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions.
