Ravi Kumar Dahiya is an Indian freestyle wrestler backed by OGQ. He participated in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, marking his first appearance at the Summer Games.

The 26-year-old fell short of winning an Olympic gold medal following a 7-4 defeat to Zaur Uguev of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (held in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic). He participated in the 57kg freestyle category.

Dahiya won his first two bouts on technical superiority and overpowered Kazakh wrestler Nurislam Sanayev in the semifinal. Against Sanayev, the Indian overturned a 9-2 deficit in the final 10 seconds to win by a fall.

A look back at Ravi Kumar Dahiya's final bout against Zavur Uguev at 2020 Tokyo Olympics

Ravi Kumar Dahiya started the 2020 Tokyo Olympics final against Zavur Uguev, assessing the Russian's moves before pitching his attack at the Makuhari Messe. The Indian wrestler conceded two points to Uguev.

Dahiya, a world bronze medalist, delved deeper, seeking an opportunity to secure hold and handle Uguev for his initial takedown. However, the Russian swiftly countered, reversing the situation. The reigning world champion ultimately took the lead at 4-2.

Uguev appeared troubled in the second period but managed to deny Dahiya any clear opportunities to capitalize. The Indian wrestler still gained two points a little later. Meanwhile, Uguev punished Dahiya, securing three additional points and finishing 4-7 to clinch the gold medal.

This marked Ravi Dahiya's second consecutive defeat to Uguev, a two-time world champion. The Indian had met Uguev in the semifinals of the 2019 World Championships where the two-time Asian champion narrowly lost in the final seconds of a closely contested bout.

Despite the shortcomings, Ravi Kumar Dahiya emerged from the Tokyo Olympics with a silver medal. He became the sixth Indian wrestler to secure a medal at the Games and only the second to win a silver, after former Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar.
