MP Jabir, an Indian athlete, specializes in 400m hurdles and 400m. He made history by becoming the first Indian male athlete to qualify for the 400m hurdles in the Olympics after he earned a spot for the event in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

However, despite displaying promising performances, MP Jabir's journey in the event came to an end after he finished seventh in the 400m men's hurdles heats at Japan's National Stadium. He clocked a time of 50.77 seconds and failed to earn a spot in the semifinals.

The 28-year-old is a Naval sailor from Malappuram, Kerala, who was dissatisfied as his time fell extremely short of his personal best (49.13) and season's best (49.78). Notably, he was ranked 33rd out of 36 athletes in the heats.

Rai Benjamin of USA, the third-fastest man in the history of the competition, won the heat with a time of 48.60sec. Meanwhile, the second and third spots were taken up by Estonia's Rasmus Magi and Sokwakhana Zazini of South Africa.
