Indian fans expected multiple medals from their athletes on Day 10 (August 5) of the Paris 2024 Olympics. Unfortunately though, after all the events of Day 10 ended, India's medal tally stands at three bronze medals only.
Badminton star Lakshya Sen was quite close to winning a historic bronze medal. However, he went down 21-13, 16-21, 11-21 in the bronze medal match against Malaysia's Lee Zii Jia. Around the same time, the Indian mixed skeet team of Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Maheshwari Chauhan lost by 43-44 against China's Lyu Jinalin and Jiang Yiting in the bronze medal match.
A few minutes after that, women's wrestler Nisha Dahiya got injured in the final 30 seconds of her quarterfinal match against Pak Sol Gum, allowing her North Korean opponent to win by 10-8 despite trailing by 1-8 after five minutes. Nisha was in tears after the game. Considering she is injured, she may not compete in the repechage round as well.
Reacting to the disappointing results on Day 10 at the Paris 2024 Olympics, an Indian sports fan wrote on X:
"We needed more medals. But this Olympics has given more heartbreaks than the Tokyo Olympics."
Another popular X user wrote about how it was a heartbreak for young Lakshya Sen, but he was hopeful that the Indian shuttler would perform better at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
"HEARTBREAK FOR LAKSHYA SEN. A bright future ahead of Sen. He'll shine at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics," the user posted.
Meanwhile, The Bharat Army saluted Nisha Dahiya for her warrior-like performance despite getting severely injured in the final minutes of the bout against Pak Sol Gum.
"Win or lose, you've made India proud, Nisha Dahiya!" Bharat Army posted.
